LIFE AFTER RETIREMENT All I can say at this point – Spring of 2010 -- is that “life is good, very good!”  As you know, I retired on January 15th of this year and started my part-time job on February 16th .  Major differences between a full-time job in DC and a part-time job near home: No more eating dinner after 7pm, unless we choose to; No more going to work in the dark and coming home in the dark; No more setting an alarm clock; No more making as many appointments as I can on a weekend; No more grocery shopping on the weekend; No more saving ALL my errands until the weekend; No more 2-day weekends; now they’re all 4-day weekends; No more waiting until after I come home from work at 7pm to participate in some kind/form of exercise; No more commuting, unless you consider .5 of a mile a commute; No more rush hour traffic The list goes on and on. I’m sure those who are retired will know what I’m talking about.  I’ve experienced two wonderful trips to Las Vegas so far; was able to be “best girl” at my sister’s wedding in Indianapolis on 2/27; and am planning on at least 3 more trips in the coming year; trips where I don’t have to worry about “do I have enough leave left?”  It goes without saying that I miss all my Arnold & Porter friends. I always want to stay connected to them and hope they will all come and visit. I’ve made new friends, too, since retirement, but no one can hold a candle to the friendships I developed at A&P.  More later as my retirement and new job progress. Kudos to my new boss, Lyn, for stepping up to the plate and being so patient with me in my new job, which I know nothing about, but which she is teaching me so well.  REMEMBER – KEEP IN TOUCH!!!!!
